“Jog for Jeanne”—Jeanne Young
As a mother, wife, friend, and special education teacher, Jeanne Young was one of the most electric and outspoken people you would ever come across. With an immensely contagious laugh and a smile that could light up an entire town, it was safe to say Jeanne was more often than not, the life of the party. The grit she possessed to raise four boys while maintaining a career and an extensive social life, could only be matched by the love shared for anyone that crossed her path.
Unlike many who discover they are terminally ill, Jeanne did not take pity on herself. Instead, she made it a point to live life exactly the way she did prior to the diagnosis. The same grit and positive attitude she carried her entire life, was still very present in her every day life. Instead of slowly melting away like a burning candle, she used this opportunity to bring people together. Whether it be ALS fundraising events, trips with her family and friends, or a simple dinner party at her home, she remained the same amazing person she had always been.
On December 8, 2012, just shy of four years since being diagnosed, Jeanne was forced to succumb to the disease. To honor her legacy and all of those who lost or are cur-rently fighting the battle with ALS we have set up an event in order to generate money and find a cure for this awful disease.
Please join us as we raise money, awareness, and our glasses to put an end to ALS!
