The best way I know how to honor Shaun and his relentless fight is by continuing to share his story. A major part of his story, is the love and support he had from so many. While he is no longer with us, his legacy is. I whole heartedly believe Shaun would want all of us to come together to raise money for organizations Shaun believed in and helped him along his ALS journey. Shaun was particular in which organizations should receive funds. This organization is one he believed in, because they believed in him and provided him with items to make life a little easier in a tireless fight. The United Against ALS Walkathon raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. However with tons of love and support, Shaun surpassed that timeline! ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. Incurable is unacceptable.

While a cure did not come during Shaun's lifetime, the hope is that through our efforts, a cure will eventually come! That?s why I?m walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: ?You Have ALS? again.
