Welcome to our Team Page to honor Elizabeth McGarry!
Thank you for helping us reach and surpass our United Against ALS Walkathon fundraising goal! Donations are still being accepted. Every dollar we raise will help! The United Against ALS Walkathon raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Our very dear friend Elizabeth McGarry has ALS. She is vivacious, beautiful and just barely entering her 70's, with this terrible disease that has advanced full force. It's a battle. Everyday life and simple tasks become increasingly harder. Her body weakens yet her mind remains sharp. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
That's why we?re walking on November 1. We?re walking for Elizabeth. To change the statistics. To invite God's help with every step. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: You Have ALS? again.
The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
But, we can?t stop now. The key to a cure begins with you.
NOV. 1 WALK -- We have a team from Elizabeth?s community at Ovation that will be walking for her on November 1, 2025. Please consider walking with us and/or sponsoring our walk with a generous donation to help Elizabeth and all those who are living with ALS. Registration for the walk is free and can be done on site that morning. A thank you lunch is included. We leave Ovation for Park Place Plaza in Irvine around 9:45am. Laurie Post is coordinating carpooling if you would like a ride.
