Sergio Bruno DeLuca
Date of Diagnosis: 2005
Favorite Quote/Saying:  "NEVER GIVE UP"

Sergio was born on March 16,1964 and passed away at the age of 46 on Dec. 23, 2010. He had battled ALS for over 5 years. Yet throughout the entire time of illness, he lived his life with the saying, "NEVER GIVE UP". Those who knew Sergio knew he lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time on the soccer field, sometimes, yelling at the referees when they made the wrong call. Even when the disease took his speech from him, he still managed to get his point across to his players. He enjoyed his time with his family, at home or on his many river trips as well as designing and caring for his beautiful back yard. He loved his basketball team the Lakers who he had the pleasure of meeting Kobe Bryant in 2006. His favorite football team is the Chicago Bears. If you knew Sergio, you would know his love for his statues of elephants.

ABOUT ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
